He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past two in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days
He's been drinking for the longest of time after he lost something so dear to him. Today, he finally gathered himself up and managed to wake up and face reality.
Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs
As he walks down the path, he felt a breeze which reminded him of that dreaded day - Sunday, and he lost himself once more as he remembered how they met for breakfast together.
Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in
He recalls the familiar place, flashbacks of her devilish grin flooded his mind. He remembered how she led him in, and left him hanging.
Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm gonna ask her to marry me
He made up his mind to find the girl - the one that led him in and left him hanging, the one that he has been thinking of, the one that he has decided to marry.
Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny, these butterflies?
They're filling his gut
After he has confessed his feelings for her, she made it very clear to him that she no longer believes in love, and will not have anything more with him. However, he believes his guts that she is lying. He could feel that love from that girl, he knows that she loves him too.
Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads, oh he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside
Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm gonna ask her to marry me
He went around in search of the girl of his dreams, he went to her neighbours in the wee hours and pleaded for them to let him know where she went. They all turned him down, and left him without an answer. He was dying to know and find out where she had went. He wants to confess everything he has for her, he wants to show her that she really loved him and they could be together.
The neighbours said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavour
To find my whoever, wherever she may be
The neighbours couldn't bare to see this poor man searching high and low for the love of his life, they finally told him that she moved away. His mood was dampened, which is why he used "funny how it rained all day". He finally realised why he was never able to look for her, and he realised why she wasn't able to devote her love to him. Maybe it was never because she didn't love him, but because she couldn't? As he continues to search for her desperately, he realises that there's no where he can start with - as seen in "all of these clouds are following me in my desperate endeavour to find my whoever, wherever she may be". He doesn't know where she is, he doesn't know why she left, he doesn't even know if he is able to find her eventually.
[Juliet Simms:]
I'm not coming back, (forgive me)
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak, (I'm not calling, I'm not calling)
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt;
Now the rain is just (you're driving me crazy, I'm)
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
So many thousands of feet off the ground
I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds
Towering over your head
She obviously left for somewhere and she will never return. I believe she refers "I've done something to terrible" to being "terrified to speak" and "not calling". She thinks that he would expect that from her since she doesn't believe in love. However, that isn't the case. She's as mixed up as he is, because she finally felt the spark with someone, but she was never able to commit. It was not because she couldn't love, but because she wasn't able to. Now she's thinking so much about him but wants to stop so badly as seen in "you're driving me crazy, i'm washing you out of my hair and out of my mind". She felt that as she moves on with her own life, pursuing what she had already planned out, she could get over him - and she did eventually. "So many thousands of feet of the ground, i'm over you now" probably refers that she's in a plane to another town and she knows that she has to move on and finally was able to move on when she's on board the plane.
[Alex Gaskarth:]
Well I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home.
He finally understood that he will never be able to find her again, because she has left for good. He keeps repeating to himself that he should go home, as depicted from "I guess I'll go home now (x 4)".

Bruised and Scarred - Mayday Parade
It all goes back to the first kiss
It was the one I thought I'd never miss
Maybe we were one of the lucky ones
Maybe I'm just not quite strong enough
Back when they shared their very first kiss, he didn't expect any of it to end. Which explains "the one I thought I'd never miss". He felt that they were blessed to have found one another. However, after all that has happened, and things didn't work out, he blames himself for the downfall of their relationship.
This was supposed to be the easy part
But breaking down is what I found hard
Now I'm wearing this smile that I don't believe in
Inside, I feel like screaming
He finally left her - this time it was really over. He thought that it'll be over, and everything will be easier for him. But he was wrong. He ended everything - he caused himself the pain of losing the girl he loves. He couldn't show that he was breaking down, he had to put a show to let her know he's better of without her. No, that's not how he really feels. He's dying on the inside, but his pride will not allow him to show signs of breaking down.
She gave me every reason to believe
I'd found the one
But my doubts, somehow
They sold me out
He realised that the problem never really lied in his girl. She gave him every reason to believe that she was the one - the one that he will settle down with and have a family. He realised that his doubts were the reason, his insecurities was the one that ruined his relationship; his Love.
I'm bruised and scarred
Save me from this broken heart
All my love will slowly fade and fall apart
Someone please sing this lovesick melody
Call my name if you're afraid
I'm just a kiss away
He knows that it's over, he feels lousy and he's hurting very badly as if he's been bruised and scarred. With his broken heart, he starts to question love and all the love within him slowly fades away, leaving him with nothing but the love songs he keeps on repeat. Nonetheless, he still wants to be there for his girl. He understand what she may be going through, and he will always be there for her if she needs him to. "I'm just a kiss away", in my opinion, may mean that if she is willing to kiss him again (get back together with him), he will be more than willing to continue loving her.
I'm finding out in the hardest way
The consequence of every mistake I've ever made
Baby, what's it like to be alone? (Baby, what's it like to be alone?)
I don't wanna know, I don't wanna know
He realised that he's made a mistake leaving her, he realised that life is a lot harder to live without her. He questions what is it like for her, but he is afraid that she may be happier, thus he doesn't want to know.
She gave me every reason to believe
I'd found the one
But my doubts, somehow
They sold me out
I'm bruised and scarred
Save me from this broken heart
All my love will slowly fade and fall apart
Someone please sing this lovesick melody
Call my name if you're afraid
I'm just a kiss away
So, baby, be honest
Is this what you wanted?
We lost where we started
And found out much more than we wanna know (More than we wanna know)
About how we're letting go, oh (About how we're letting go)
So, baby, be honest
Is this what you wanted?
We lost where we started
And found out much more than we wanna know
He questions her love. "So baby be honest is this what you wanted?" Did she really want things to end the way it did? "We lost where we started" may just mean that they are back to being strangers again, or it may literally mean they broke up at the exact spot he asked her to be his girl. After the break up, they found out about all the unspoken, that's too much for the both of them to handle. The both of them are disgusted with the ways that the other is moving on, and letting go. For him, it's basically putting on a strong front and trying his best to forget about her, whereas she may have had gotten someone better to replace him.
I'm bruised and scarred
Save me from this broken heart
All my love will slowly fade and fall apart
Someone please sing this lovesick melody
Call my name if you're afraid
I'm just a kiss away
At the very end, he's again admitting that he has made a huge mistake, and has hurt not only her but himself as well. But he's still hoping that one day she will come back, and he will be more than happy to protect her from everything that she is afraid of (maybe going through the break up alone?).
Will this be how you feel when we've finally mustered enough courage to leave each other?
